    The time is right to join HNTB!  We are currently seeking an Aviation Leader for our Pennsylvania Operations.


    HNTB is a leading provider of planning, design and program management services for transportation development programs nationwide.  The firm is implementing a strategic growth plan across select geographies and market sectors.  The State of Pennsylvania, the Philadelphia metro area and the Aviation Market Sector are key growth priorities for the firm.  This position will help HNTB to advance our strategies for Pennsylvania, Philadelphia and Aviation.    



    Job Summary

    Responsible for the profitable operation of large, mega projects.

    Essential Responsibility

    • Responsible for managing and delivering mega projects on-time, within budget and to the satisfaction of the client.
    • Develops and nurtures key client relationships and is the primary company contact on the project.
    • Identifies and markets additional business opportunities with key clients.
    • Sets priorities, secure resources and obtain commitment to work according to the project planned with department managers and section heads.
    • Consistently maintains an overall view for the progress of the assigned project.
    • Oversees the Project Managers and as a functional manager, to support with the right resources, competencies and tools that are available.
    • Ensures the achievement of product quality, project targets, budget control and project profitability over the project portfolio.
    • Communicates effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions and strategies.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Additional Responsibilities

    The Pennsylvania Aviation Leader will be responsible for assisting in the implementation of the firm’s strategies for HNTB’s profitable growth within the aviation market in Pennsylvania.  The position is based in the HNTB Philadelphia office and covers a geography that includes airport and airline related business in Pennsylvania.  The position will also be networked with HNTB Aviation professionals in the HNTB Mid Atlantic Division and nationwide with other HNTB divisions through the National Aviation Market Sector. The firm has 6 key aviation practice areas: aviation planning, environmental, engineering design, architectural design, airport systems and program management/construction management.  The Pennsylvania Aviation leader will be responsible for helping the firm to win and deliver aviation projects with targeted focus clients across all practice areas within Pennsylvania. 
    The position is intended to serve as the leader of the Aviation group in the HNTB Philadelphia office.  The primary focus will be on pursuing, winning and delivering successful aviation projects with the Philadelphia International Airport (PHL).  Secondary focus will be related to pursuit and delivery of aviation projects with other clients in Pennsylvania including Allegheny County Airport Authority, the Airlines and other potential aviation clients.  
    Essential duties:
    Philadelphia Aviation Leader  
    - Responsible for managing Philadelphia office aviation staff resources and budgets in accordance with the business objectives of the Philadelphia office.
    - Manages a group of aviation staff to pursue and deliver aviation projects.
    - Coordinates the work efforts and reviews work performed by staff in the Aviation group.  
    - Identifies staffing needs for the development and delivery of aviation services.
    - Participates in recruiting key staff.
    - Coordinates the deployment of key aviation practice resources on opportunities, pursuits, and projects.
    Project Manager
    - Within the applicant’s area of expertise, the selected candidate may be asked to serve as a Project Manager for HNTB services at PHL and other airports within the State of Pennsylvania.
    - This would involve management of the project and performing technical discipline tasks including research, reports; manages project scope, schedule and budget, etc.
    - Business Development/Strategic Planning.
    - Under the direction of the Philadelphia Office Leader, leads the efforts to perform discovery regarding potential business opportunities with PHL and other aviation clients in Pennsylvania.
    - Develops client-specific strategic plans for PHL and other potential aviation clients in Pennsylvania.
    Industry Representation
    - Serves as the face for HNTB Aviation in Pennsylvania.
    - Attends local, regional, state and national aviation conferences and events where consistent with the business objectives of the Philadelphia office.   
    Additional Qualifications/Attributes
    - Experience with other transportation modes.
    - Proven ability to work and lead team with no day-to-day supervisory direction.
    - Comfortable with working in/with the political environment.
    - Contracting and financial background would be a plus

    Basic Qualification

    Bachelor's degree in Engineering
    16 years engineering experience, including directing large mega projects

    Preferred Qualification/Skills

    - Bachelor Degree or higher in planning, engineering or architecture.
    - Additional education or training in management and finance helpful.
    - Registered Architect or Engineer preferred, but not required.
    - PMP certification helpful.
    - Minimum 16 years of progressive experience in a broad range of Airport A&E services (i.e. airport planning, airport operations, airline operations, terminal and airfield design criteria’s, aviation finances).
    - Aviation-specific work experience and relationships at PHL Airport and other airports in Pennsylvania.


    General Work Conditions

    Office Environment: Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently, and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use.
