    Overview

    HNTB's Tallahassee Office is expanding our information technology solutions capabilities to our public agency clients.  This focus is on clients primarily in Florida; who are responsible for managing some of our country's most critical transportation infrastructure.  HNTB Corporation is currently seeking a System Developer to work in Tallahassee, Florida.

    Job Summary

    Works on problems of limited scope and is able to develop and/or configure software with direction. Exercises entry level knowledge of basic development languages, troubleshooting skills and the SDLC.  Utilizes standard procedures and practices and receives regular guidance from others.

    Essential Responsibility

    • Handles majority of tier 2 and 3 support calls where there are standard practices and/or solutions readily available.
    • Unit tests programs.
    • Builds QA/Prod deployment documents.
    • Participates in code reviews.
    • Installs and configures developer tools.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Additional Responsibilities

    - Work closely with lead developer to develop and perform IV&V test plans for SunGuide® Software updates and other software.
    - Prepare reports from SunGuide® database for annual reports and other studies. 
    - Prepare reports from Regional Integrated Traffic Information System using archived real-time data for mobility and safety performance measures
    - Manage the design, layout, and production of client-server and web-based applications.
    - Performs a developer role in building enterprise software solutions encompassing: services and service layer, service integration to UI and data, UI components
    - The candidate must work well in a team-like atmosphere in the development information technology solutions for a wide variety of public-sector clients.
    - Works with the solution stakeholders and other team members to complement and complete the development process.
    - Ability to iteratively and incrementally improve both products and processes.

    Basic Qualification

    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related degree
    1 year application development experience
    In lieu of education, 5 years application development experience
    - .Net/C#
    - T-SQL/SQL
    - Javascript
     

    Preferred Qualification/Skills

    - Experience with popular web application frameworks and the use of integrated application development environments ADO.NET, Windows Forms, Entity Framework, Web Services (SOAP, WCF, and WebAPI), and MVC development patterns.
    - Experience in XHTML/HTML5, CSS, JSON, AJAX, Visual Studio, IIS, SDLC, SharePoint, Microsoft Dynamics CRM/AX.
    - Experience leveraging Java Frameworks such as Struts/Tiles, Struts 2, Servlets/JSP, JPA/Hibernate. 
    - Current knowledge of web design best practices (Responsive Design etc.).
    - Experience with unit testing frameworks and understanding of code versioning tools.
    - Understanding of modular web architectures, layering, and re-usability of templates.
    - Experience on cross-browser/platform issues and browser security techniques.
    - Knowledge of network development and maintenance (firewalls, Internet VPN’s remote implementation., server configuration, IP addressing, etc.).
    - Knowledge of IPv6
    - Design and development knowledge in relational databases (SQL Server and/or Oracle) and database design
    - Knowledge of non-relational database (MongoDB, Cassandra, etc.)
    - Experience with database query tools (i.e., TOAD, SQL Developer, SQL Navigator) 
    - Experience delivering solutions utilizing the entire Microsoft BI stack (SSAS, SSIS, SSRS) and Crystal Report.
    - Experience in using statistical packages and analyzing datasets using Python,  SPSS, SAS, Excel, etc.
    - Exposure to requirements analysis/gathering and applying techniques to respond to documented requirements
    - Ability to be creative, to use sound judgment, and to display foresight to identify potential problems and design/specifications and assigned application software systems

    Office Environment: Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently, and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use.
