    Overview

    The time is right to join HNTB Corporation!  HNTB is currently seeking a Transit Project Engineer in our Hyattsville, MD project office.

    Job Summary

    Provides coordination of project execution and control, in a given discipline area, to achieve continuity of purpose within scope, budget, and time schedules from initial start-up through project closeout. Also accountable for handling specific design aspects on projects appropriate to discipline field. Coordinates efforts of assigned design team to ensure completeness and accuracy of design effort. Serves as technical liaison with client on project efforts. Responsible for gross revenue of <$1M.

    Essential Responsibility

    • Responsible for the delivery of project discipline scope elements within budget and schedule.
    • Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team’s work. Guides team to overall project objectives.
    • Serves as technical liaison with client at staff level for work within the discipline.
    • Assists with project management duties.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Additional Responsibilities

    - Develop and coordinate the development of contract documents and assist with bidding and contract administration as directed by WMATA PM.
    - Assist in project administration and manage internal project controls.
    - Oversee the preparation and subsequent management of project CPM schedules.
    - Utilize cost and schedule controls to help manage fiscal and schedule aspects of one or more multi-year capital projects.  Advise PM of potential deviations.
    - Oversee / monitor project activities, claims and change orders, progress reporting, payments, and other contract administration functions.
    - Manage Requests for Information (RFIs) and Requests for Variances (RFVs) and coordinate timely WMATA responses.
    - Oversee daily coordination with regards to Contractor track access and WMATA personnel support.
    - Develop and update estimates, budgets, cash flows, accruals, etc., and assist with other financial planning / reporting tasks.
    - Prepare and update presentations. Represent Project Manager at meetings where the PM is unable to attend.
    - Prepare punch lists at the completion of contract milestones and inspection for completion of work.
    - Supervise the maintenance of project records and files using WMATA project management software system (PROCORE).
    - Perform other project related duties as assigned by the Project Manager and/or Task Manager.
    - Promotes and nurtures key client and office relationships. 

    Basic Qualification

    Bachelor's degree in Engineering
    6 years relevant experience
     

    Preferred Qualification/Skills

    - Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or other related field
    - PMP certification is highly desired
    - Experience in the transit industry
    - At least 2 years experience applying project management knowledge and skills
    - Proficient in MS office (to include WORD, EXCEL, POWERPOINT, and OUTLOOK)
    - Able to manage multiple projects at once.
    - Effective communication skills, and demonstrates a high level of initiative
    - Familiarity with WMATA standard processes and procedures
    - Familiarity with WMATA’s project management software system (PROCORE)

    General Work Conditions

    Combination Office and Field Environment: Most work is performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use. Work may infrequently be performed at client’s job site, construction trailer, and in the field. Work may sometimes require working in inclement weather, working in a construction site, being exposed to heavy construction equipment and doing extensive walking. Adherence to applicable safety protocol is required.
