    Overview

    The time is right to join HNTB!  We are currently seeking an Aviation Leader for our Miami, Florida office.

     

    HNTB is a leading provider of planning, design and program management services for transportation development programs nationwide.  The firm is implementing a strategic growth plan across select geographies and market sectors.  The State of Florida, the Miami metro area and the Aviation Market Sector are key growth priorities for the firm.  This position will help HNTB to advance our strategies for our Aviation practice in Florida.    

    Job Summary

    Responsible for the profitable operation of large, mega projects.

    Essential Responsibility

    • Responsible for managing and delivering mega projects on-time, within budget and to the satisfaction of the client.
    • Develops and nurtures key client relationships and is the primary company contact on the project.
    • Identifies and markets additional business opportunities with key clients.
    • Sets priorities, secure resources and obtain commitment to work according to the project planned with department managers and section heads.
    • Consistently maintains an overall view for the progress of the assigned project.
    • Oversees the Project Managers and as a functional manager, to support with the right resources, competencies and tools that are available.
    • Ensures the achievement of product quality, project targets, budget control and project profitability over the project portfolio.
    • Communicates effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions and strategies.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Additional Responsibilities

    Miami Aviation Leader 
    - Responsible for managing Miami office aviation staff resources and budgets in accordance with the business objectives of the Miami office.
    - Manages a group of aviation staff to pursue and deliver aviation projects.
    - Coordinates the work efforts and reviews work performed by staff in the Aviation group.  
    - Identifies staffing needs for the development and delivery of aviation services.
    - Participates in recruiting key staff.
    - Coordinates the deployment of key aviation practice resources on opportunities, pursuits, and projects.
     
    Client Service Leader for MDAD
     
    - Responsible for being the main point of contact with the MDAD client with focus on business development, client relationships, and project delivery.  Directs a client service team to discover and position for future project opportunities
     
     
    Project Manager for MDAD Consulting Engineer
    - Responsible for pro-actively executing the duties as outlined for the Consulting Engineer (CE) in the MDAD Trust Agreement.  Provide leadership to the team assigned to support the CE role in delivering HNTB’s project objectives.
    - Serves as the primary project liaison with MDAD, clearly articulating the duties of the CE while maintaining independence and an attitude of trusted adviser role as an aviation expert. Certifies the projects are necessary, certifies approval of payments, advises trustees of the adequacy of airport operations and maintenance.
    - Performs technical discipline tasks including research, reports; manages project scope, schedule and budget, etc.
     
    Business Development/Strategic Planning
    - Under the direction of the Miami Office Leader, leads the efforts to perform discovery regarding potential business opportunities with MDAD and other aviation clients in Southeast Florida.
    - Develops client-specific strategic plans for MDAD and other potential aviation clients in the Southeast Florida.
     
    Industry Representation
    - Serves as the face for HNTB Aviation in Southeast Florida.
    - Attends local, regional, state and national aviation conferences and events where consistent with the business objectives of the Miami office

    Basic Qualification

    Bachelor's degree in Engineering
    16 years engineering experience, including directing large mega projects

    Preferred Qualification/Skills

    - Bachelor Degree or higher in planning, engineering or architecture.
    - Additional education or training in management and finance helpful.
    - Registered Architect or Engineer preferred, but not required.
    - PMP certification helpful.
    - 20 years of progressive experience in a broad range of Airport A&E services (i.e. airport planning, airport operations, airline operations, terminal and airfield design criteria’s, aviation finances).
     
    Additional Qualifications/Attributes
    - Experience with other transportation modes.
    - Proven ability to work and lead team with no day-to-day supervisory direction.
    - Comfortable with working in/with the political environment.
    - Contracting and financial background would be a plus
     

     

    General Work Conditions

    Office Environment: Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently, and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use.
