    The time is right to join HNTB Corporation!  HNTB is seeing a Senior Aviation Planner for our Great Lakes Division.  This position can be located in Chicago, IL or Minneapolis, MN.  

    Job Summary

    Determines objectives and requirements within the discipline, organizes programs and projects and develops standards and guides for diverse planning activities.

    Essential Responsibility

    • Initiates and maintains extensive contacts with transportation planning, landscape architecture, urban design and/or planning leaders and other discipline/office leaders.

    • Supervises and coordinates project managers to ensure HNTB's 4 for 4 (Consistent delivery of quality work, on time, on budget and to the client's satisfaction on every project) performance.
    • Monitors design and technical continuity throughout projects.
    • Oversees maintenance of Manual of Professional Practice.
    • Understands and assists with all aspects of the profession within the office, including business development initiatives, project management, technical applications and design applications.
    • Coordinates among leadership within the office and the company on a regular basis.
    • Leads special assignments on behalf of the office, division, and service group.
    • Serves as client service leader for assigned market area or project manager for key clients and larger assignments. Maintains extensive client contacts.
    • Coordinates with group director and office leaders on strategic issues and achievement of business performance goals.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Additional Responsibilities

    - Leads staff and participates in aviation planning studies, including master plans, feasibility studies, advanced planning, programming/project definition documents, as well as support of design projects.
    - Strong knowledge of FAA Advisory circulars and orders that pertain airport planning and design.
    - Successful background in development and implementation of aviation planning marketing strategies.
    - Prior track record of winning aviation planning projects.
    - Proven project delivery track record.
    - Established relationships with aviation clients, such as FAA, airports and/or other transportation agencies.
    - Active in relevant professional organizations/societies.
    - Strong oral and written communications skills.
    - Ability to travel.

    Basic Qualification

    Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning, or related field
    12 years related experience
    10 years related experience (with Master's degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning, or related field)

    Preferred Qualification/Skills

    - Experience in successfully leading large airport master plans, either as the project manager or deputy project manager.
    - Demonstrated successful experience in leading multi-faceted on call planning assignments for large airports.
    - In addition to strong management and marketing skills, strong technical competence in at least one aspect of planning, such as airside, landside or terminal.
    - Professional licensing or certification in Planning (AICP) Engineering (PE) or architecture (AIA), and/or in aviation (CM, AAAE, ACE).

    Office Environment: Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently, and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use.
