    The time is right to join HNTB!  We are seeking candidates for the position of Project Engineer to join our Highway group with an emphasis on drainage/stormwater/H&H in our Allentown, Harrisburg, KOP, Philadelphia office .

    Job Summary

    Provides coordination of project execution and control, in a given discipline area, to achieve continuity of purpose within scope, budget, and time schedules from initial start-up through project closeout. Also accountable for handling specific design aspects on projects appropriate to discipline field. Coordinates efforts of assigned design team to ensure completeness and accuracy of design effort. Serves as technical liaison with client on project efforts. Responsible for gross revenue of <$1M.

    Essential Responsibility

    • Responsible for the delivery of project discipline scope elements within budget and schedule.
    • Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team’s work. Guides team to overall project objectives.
    • Serves as technical liaison with client at staff level for work within the discipline.
    • Assists with project management duties.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Additional Responsibilities

    - Contributes to the preparation or modification of drainage/stormwater management/H&H design, report, plans and details for transportation projects including but not limited to: erosion and sediment pollution control, post construction stormwater management, H&H, contour grading and drainage, Cross Sections, Final Design plans and specifications.
    - Participate in the collection and analysis of data and preparation of satisfactory designs.
    - Perform drainage/stormwater management/H&H design calculations and conduct investigative analyses toward completion of assigned design tasks, and direct preparation of design specifications.
    - Perform quantity estimates, detailing and review calculations and drawings.
    - Organize scheduling of specific tasks and assignments.
    - Prepare NPDES/E&S/Land Development/Water Obstruction Permits and associated design utilizing appropriate modeling software.
    - Responsible for the delivery of project discipline scope elements within budget and schedule.
    - Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team’s work. Guides team to overall project objectives.
    - Serves as technical liaison with client at staff level for work within the discipline.
    - Assists with project management duties.
    - Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects Perform engineering studies to support transportation design including but not limited to roadway, traffic, safety and drainage.

    Basic Qualification

    Bachelor's degree in Engineering
    6 years relevant experience

    Preferred Qualification/Skills

    - Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and 6 years of experience with an emphasis on Water Resources.
    - Master's degree in Engineering preferred.
    - Professional Engineer Certification.
    - Experience working on PennDOT projects.
    - Experience in Microsoft Office (Outlook Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    - Experience with MicroStation.
    - Drainage/H&H modeling Experience with Inroads Storm and Sanitary/Pondpack/HEC-RAS.
    - Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    General Work Conditions

    Combination Office and Field Environment: Most work is performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use. Work may infrequently be performed at client’s job site, construction trailer, and in the field. Work may sometimes require working in inclement weather, working in a construction site, being exposed to heavy construction equipment and doing extensive walking. Adherence to applicable safety protocol is required.
