    The time is right to join HNTB Corporation!  HNTB is currently seeking a Planner / Public Involvement Representative for planning projects in our Tampa, FL office. 

    Job Summary

    Coordinates and implements public involvement programs for clients to facilitate communication and acceptance of projects and initiatives.

    Essential Responsibility

    • Assists in research projects relative to environmental impact evaluations.
    • Conducts routine investigations and collect data needed for environmental impact evaluations.
    • Prepares and coordinates dissemination of community relations materials, facts and information about client activities to external agencies, associations, and news organizations using print, periodicals, radio and/or visual communication media.
    • Completes routine records and reports related to public involvement meetings and public hearings.
    • Helps coordinate community meetings including scheduling, determining location, and ensuring proper setup and materials are present.
    • May interact with clients to coordinate implementation of communication programs.
    • Drafts speeches, create and design presentation materials, and/or compose correspondence for use in mailings and/or meetings.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Basic Qualification

    Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism or related field

    Preferred Qualification/Skills

    - 2 years related experience
    - Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, related field
    - Experience with public engagement related to transportation projects
    - Strong understanding of public involvement requirements as related to planning projects, NEPA and PD&E
    - Urban planning/land use planning experience / MPO (Metopolitan Planning Organization)
    - Social media skills
    - Basic graphic design skills 
    - Good communication skills, particularly in terms of writing

    General Work Conditions

    Office Environment: Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently, and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use.
