    The time is right to join HNTB Corporation. We are seeking candidates for an Assistant Resident Technical Specialist in our Oakland CA office.

    Job Summary

    Provides overall field contract administration and coordination on projects of a diverse nature. Monitor activities of all assigned staff to determine that contractor's construction activities are monitored and controlled in accordance with design specifications and contractual requirements. May serve as interface on-site between Client, Company Personnel and Contractor in resolution of project issues. May be in charge of a project of limited size and scope under the direct oversight of a Resident Engineer or serving as the assistant to the Resident Engineer on a large and or complex Project.

    Essential Responsibility

    • Reads and interprets complex Contract Documents.
    • Supervises mentoring and training of subordinate staff
    • Monitors internal HNTB Project Controls for assigned staff.
    • Performs/observes on-site material testing.
    • Prepares Inspector's Daily Report / Summary Inspection Report of Daily Activities for Contractor's work activities.
    • Performs sophisticated, complicated mathematical calculations.
    • Monitors Contractors progress and compares to Reviewed Progress Schedule.
    • Produces As-Constructed Schedules as required.
    • Administers JPI's and budget.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Basic Qualification

    Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
    8 years construction related experience
    Fundamentals of Engineering certification
    All Jurisdictional Certificates

    General Work Conditions

    Combination Office and Field Environment: Most work is performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use. Work may infrequently be performed at client’s job site, construction trailer, and in the field. Work may sometimes require working in inclement weather, working in a construction site, being exposed to heavy construction equipment and doing extensive walking. Adherence to applicable safety protocol is required.
