    Overview

    HNTB is currently providing construction management on some of the area’s most exciting and challenging projects – the first light rail to be constructed on a floating bridge, a brand-new waterfront for downtown Seattle, and replacement of a hundred-year-old wooden railroad trestle. We are currently seeking a Construction Program Manager in our Bellevue, Washington office to continue to grow our Pacific Northwest Construction Services practice.  The time is right to join HNTB!

     

    The Construction Program Manager will be responsible for growing HNTB’s Construction Services practice by developing relationships with clients such as the Port of Seattle, WSDOT, and BNSF.  In addition, she/he will serve as Project Manager overseeing current CM projects and teams.

     

    Job Summary

    Responsible for providing overall field contract administration and coordination on a mega program or mega project of a diverse and complex nature. Supervises assigned staff to verify that the Contractor’s activities are monitored and controlled in accordance with design specifications and contractual requirements. Primary on-site liaison between Client, Company Personnel and Contractor for resolution of project issues.

    Essential Responsibility

    • Implements on-site procedures to assist staff in performing their work.
    • Collects data to brief client on project issues and provides possible resolutions.
    • Reviews and drafts responses to Contractor’s correspondence as required.
    • Reads and interpret plans.
    • Monitors Contractor progress and compares with reviewed Progress Schedule.
    • Mentors and trains staff.
    • Administers JPI’s and Budget.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Additional Responsibilities

    - Implements and executes the firm’s Sophisticated Sales Approach, Sophisticated Contracting Approach and Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SSA, SCA, SDA).
    - Assists in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation.
    - Actively manages assigned project management activities (project scope, schedule, budget and quality management) and perform technical discipline tasks including research, reports, design, specifications and plan preparation.
    - Provides quality control and assist in resolution of construction issues.
    - Represents HNTB with client, public and regulatory agencies.
    - Responsible for the hiring, supervision, mentoring, professional development, evaluation and termination of department staff members.
    - Accountability includes meeting gross revenue goals, timely and satisfactory completion of construction projects, assuring satisfactory client service, key field position staffing, and related management activities.
    - Review and draft responses to Contractor’s correspondence as required.
     
    Additional Basic Qualifications
    - Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management plus 15 years’ experience, or related degree plus 20 years related experience.
    - Understanding of construction methods, including standards, equipment, processes, and safety considerations.
    - Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to maintain good working relationships with clients, contractors, management, and coworkers.
    - Proficiency with computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Adobe, and Bluebeam, and with mobile devices such as tablet computers.
    - A valid driver’s license and good driving record.
     

    Basic Qualification

    Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Science or related degree
    20 years related experience

    Preferred Qualification/Skills

    Professional Engineer or Certified Construction Manager

    General Work Conditions

    Combination Office and Field Environment: Most work is performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use. Work may infrequently be performed at client’s job site, construction trailer, and in the field. Work may sometimes require working in inclement weather, working in a construction site, being exposed to heavy construction equipment and doing extensive walking. Adherence to applicable safety protocol is required.
