    Overview

    The time is right to join HNTB Corporation!  HNTB is currently seeking an Environmental Planner II in our Minneapolis, MN.

     

    For more than 50 years, the HNTB Minneapolis office has planned, designed, and delivered some of the largest and most complex infrastructure projects in the region.  This role offers an opportunity to contribute to some of the most transformational transportation projects throughout the United States.

    Job Summary

    Develop plans and policies to meet with social economic, and physical needs of communities, including land use transportation planning, transit planning, environmental planning, development, public facilities, and parks and recreational facilities. Performs all aspects of planning assignments and may begin to focus expertise. Work emphasizes design and technical aspects of projects but may include limited task assignee duties and tasks associated with business development. May oversee the work of less experienced staff.

     

    Essential Responsibility

    • Assists in directing small-scale planning projects and portions of larger projects from concept development through submission drawings.
    • Coordinates with sub-consultants and in-house personnel on a regular basis to complete assigned tasks. Some contact with clients.
    • Prepares technical plans and reports, written reports on small to medium sized planning projects, scopes of work, fee proposals and responses to Request for Proposals.
    • Final production of environmental documents, comprehensive plans and reports, graphics associated with public meetings, presentation drawings, reports, etc.
    • Conducts research and detailed analysis of data.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Additional Responsibilities

    - Experience writing environmental documents (EA's, EIS's, etc.) involving NEPA.

    Basic Qualification

    Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, Environmental Science or related field
    2 years of related experience

    Preferred Qualification/Skills

    - Master’s Degree in Planning or related field
    - 2 years of related experience

    General Work Conditions

    Office Environment:  Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions.  Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently, and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use.
