    Overview

    HNTB Corporation is currently seeking an Engineer II - Roadway/Drainage Design in our Lake Mary, Florida office to support our growing transportation practice.

    Job Summary

    Assists assigned department by performing engineering-related tasks including research, development, calculations, design and delivery on assigned project(s).

    Essential Responsibility

    • Contributes to the preparation or modification of reports, plans and designs for projects.
    • Assists in the preparation of project quantity and cost estimates.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Additional Responsibilities

    - Individual will participate in collection and analysis of data and preparation of road and highway designs
    - She/he will perform roadway and highway design calculations, conduct investigative analyses toward completion of assigned design tasks, and direct the preparation of design drawings and/or specifications
    - May assist in providing some direction to drafting personnel in preparing design drawings
    - Organize scheduling of specific tasks and assignments
    - Assists Senior Engineers and Project Managers with preparation of weekly and monthly program updates and reporting
    - Assists Senior Engineers and Project Managers with management of design review process and permitting through outside agencies
    - Coordinates with construction observers, consultant engineers, utility coordinators, and right of way coordinators
    - Conducts reviews and makes recommendations of approval of potential construction change orders, utility agreements, and construction & utility pay estimates
    - Updates and maintains master schedule for the program
    - Other duties as assigned
     
     

    Basic Qualification

    Bachelor's degree in Engineering
    2 years relevant experience
    EIT

    Preferred Qualification/Skills

    - Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering plus 2 year of civil transportation project experience.
    - EIT Certification required.
    - PE preferred.
    - Recent experience working on FDOT projects.
    - Experience with RFP production.
    - Geopak, InRoads, or 3D Modeling experience.

    General Work Conditions

    Combination Office and Field Environment: Most work is performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use. Work may infrequently be performed at client’s job site, construction trailer, and in the field. Work may sometimes require working in inclement weather, working in a construction site, being exposed to heavy construction equipment and doing extensive walking. Adherence to applicable safety protocol is required.
