The time is right to join HNTB Corporation!  HNTB is currently seeking a Cost Analyst IV in our New York, New York office.

Job Summary

Leads budget/cost management duties for moderate to large programs/projects. Prepares and maintains client budgets for projects and/or programs. Manages the vetting and recording of costs for projects. Reviews and analyzes project invoices. Monitors cost history to develop trends and forecast cost at completion. Establishes and tracks contingency funds.

Essential Responsibility

  • Leads budget/cost management duties for moderate to large programs/projects. Supports the development and maintenance of difficult or very complex budgets. Assists in managing external costs for a project, including the work of HNTB, contractors and other consultants. Manages program and project-level budgeting implementation, including tracking of contingency distributions.
  • Supports clients by preparing and managing client budgets, costs and contingencies for large projects. Documents and tracks changes to budget.
  • Supports project controls manager in developing cost breakdown structure and chart of accounts for project. Establishes processes and procedures related to project cost management in line with project controls manager.
  • Oversees setup and initial loading of baseline budget into budget management system. Records commitments and expenditures. Oversees tracking of all budget, commitment, and expenditure transactions. Identifies and tracks potential cost issues/overruns and investigates anomalies in budgets and actual expenditures.
  • Oversees the production of budget/cost reporting, including budget reports, forecast-at-completion estimates, and other reports as needed.
  • Generates cash flow forecasts in collaboration with scheduling resources. Tracks multiple funding source distribution and drawdown.
  • Leads quantitative cost risk analysis workshops.
  • Reviews and approves project invoices from all project vendors (contractors, designers, consultants, etc.).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualification

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or Business
7 years related experience
In lieu of education, 11 years project controls experience

Preferred Qualification/Skills

AACE CCP (Certified Cost Professional)

General Work Conditions

Office Environment: Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently, and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use.
