Overview

The time is right to join HNTB Corporation!  HNTB is currently seeking a Mega Transportation Project Manager in our Atlanta, GA office.

Job Summary

Responsible for the profitable operation of large, mega projects.

Essential Responsibility

  • Responsible for managing and delivering mega projects on-time, within budget and to the satisfaction of the client.
  • Develops and nurtures key client relationships and is the primary company contact on the project.
  • Identifies and markets additional business opportunities with key clients.
  • Sets priorities, secure resources and obtain commitment to work according to the project planned with department managers and section heads.
  • Consistently maintains an overall view for the progress of the assigned project.
  • Oversees the Project Managers and as a functional manager, to support with the right resources, competencies and tools that are available.
  • Ensures the achievement of product quality, project targets, budget control and project profitability over the project portfolio.
  • Communicates effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions and strategies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities

- This position requires the experience in developing and implementing developing new and existing clients, and organizing and winning project pursuits. 
- Must have successful current client relationships in relevant infrastructure markets and be capable of continuing to grow business opportunities.  Must demonstrate the ability to attract and retain clients in the area, build backlog, and lead marketing pursuits.
- Serves as the primary company contact on the project and has full managerial responsibility for all aspects of the project including negotiating extras, cost control, staffing, quality control and cash management. 
- Actively manages client’s budget, schedule and program; HNTB budget and schedule; project communications and documentation. 
- Responsible for management and delivery of a quality projects on-time, within budget and to the satisfaction of the client, every time. 
- Identifies and markets additional business opportunities with key clients.   
- Ensures that established company goals are realized, while maintaining client relations that will enhance future business. 
- This person must have the appropriate combination of education, experience, expertise, and competences to perform successfully according to the project’s/contract’s level of financial risk and complexity such as:
- Overall profit or loss resulting from engineering, consulting and/or construction management services provided on major Design Build projects.

- Leading the execution of project management, construction management, and design-build major projects.
- Managing project development teams, and providing them with in-depth training and mentoring.
- Establishing and implementing objective, measurable performance criteria for evaluation of project development teams and subordinate staff performance.
- Must have the ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously, work well under pressure and meet deadlines.

Basic Qualification

Bachelor's degree in Engineering
16 years engineering experience, including directing large mega projects

Preferred Qualification/Skills

- Bachelor’s degree, advanced degree preferred plus 15 years related experience as a Project or Program Director for a globally recognized engineering and construction firm or infrastructure agency or authority, including experience leading major transportation and bridge design build projects
- Successful candidate will be articulate with professional presence, with solid decision-making, planning and organizational skills.
- 5 years of experience managing staff in the pursuit and acquisition of projects preferred 
- Design/Build experience is preferred
- 5 years of experience with structuring and leading public/private partnership projects preferred
- Demonstrated success as the highest performing project lead on a high-risk, high complexity project.
- Registered Professional Engineer required
- Direct experience delivering projects over $500M preferred
- Familiar with 5 dimension project management techniques preferred
- Experience working on alternative delivery projects with innovative financing
- Experience with delivering projects that include tolling

General Work Conditions

Office Environment: Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently, and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use.
