Engineer -Utility Coordinator

The time is right to join HNTB Corporation!  HNTB Corporation is currently seeking a Utility Coordinator in our Indianapolis, Indiana office.

Assists assigned department by performing engineering-related tasks including research, development, calculations, design and delivery on assigned project(s).

• Contributes to the preparation or modification of reports, plans and designs for projects.
• Assists in the preparation of project quantity and cost estimates.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

- Serves as the coordinator of utilities during design and construction of INDOT projects. 
- Coordinates directly with Utility Companies, INDOT, consultant designers and through construction of the projects.
- Provides utility coordination per the INDOT Utility Coordination Manual.
- Facilitates decisions related to eligibility for reimbursement for the utility companies with INDOT and the utility companies.
- Makes decisions on the necessity for utility companies to relocate after evaluation of conflict analysis.
- Coordinates work of subconsultants provide Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE).
- Maintains schedule and budget for utility coordination within the overall projects. t

Bachelor's degree in Engineering
2 years relevant experience
EIT

 
- Minimum three years of demonstrated project management experience, transportation construction, engineering, utility coordination, railroad coordination or similar field.
- Ability to travel to attend meetings throughout the State of Indiana as necessary with occasional overnight stays. 
- Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) Utility Coordination Certification
- One year as designated utility coordinator for INDOT projects.

Combination Office and Field Environment: Most work is performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use. Work may infrequently be performed at client’s job site, construction trailer, and in the field. Work may sometimes require working in inclement weather, working in a construction site, being exposed to heavy construction equipment and doing extensive walking. Adherence to applicable safety protocol is required.
