HNTB Corporation is currently seeking a ITS - Inspector II in our CEI Lake City or Jacksonville, Florida offices to support complex FDOT highway and bridge projects in District 2.

Job Summary

Responsible for providing daily inspection of multiple, routine activities within a given discipline/trade performed by contractor in order to monitor the project’s compliance with plans, specifications, and other contract provisions. Maintains daily logs of inspection work which is assigned and reviews discrepancies or changes with Field Engineer. Work is generally limited to smaller, standard, less complex projects.

Essential Responsibility

  • Monitors work of Contractor.
  • Reads and comprehends contract documents.
  • Keeps Inspector's Daily Report of assigned work activities.
  • Produces As-Constructed sketches as required.
  • Performs on-site material testing.
  • Performs measurements of completed work to date.
  • Performs standard mathematical calculations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities

- Responsible for daily inspection efforts on roadway and bridge CEI projects.
- Read and interpret plans, specifications, and shop drawings.
- Perform field inspection of contractors operations to ensure that they comply with contract documents, plans and specifications.
- Prepare daily and weekly reports on work accomplished by contractor and review periodical pay estimates for accuracy with contractor.

Basic Qualification

High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
1 year construction related experience
All required jurisdictional certificates and state requirements

Preferred Qualification/Skills

- High School Diploma or GED plus 1+ years of transportation construction engineering and inspection (CEI) experience which shall have been in roadway construction, ITS, Signal inspection on a limited access toll road, 1+ years of FDOT construction inspection experience that includes one (1) years in ITS and/ or Fiber Optics.
- Roadway inspection experience in highway lighting, signals and interconnect is also applicable.

- CTQP Earthwork Inspector Level  I
- CTQP Drilled Shaft Inspection
- FDOT Advanced and Intermediate MOT
- CTQP Final Estimates Level I
- IMSA Traffic Signal Technician Level 1
- Nuclear Radiation Safety Certification
- Fiber Installation and OTDR Fiber Testing
- DMR Operation and Testing
- Controller Operation and Testing
- CCTC Installation, Operating, and Testing
- Ability to operate relevant testing equipment related to assigned duties
- Basic computer knowledge and skills

General Work Conditions

Combination Office and Field Environment: Most work is performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use. Work may infrequently be performed at client’s job site, construction trailer, and in the field. Work may sometimes require working in inclement weather, working in a construction site, being exposed to heavy construction equipment and doing extensive walking. Adherence to applicable safety protocol is required.
