The time is right to join HNTB Corporation!  HNTB is currently seeking a Technician Specialist in our Bartow, Florida office.

Job Summary

Senior Proficiency Level with emphasis in one or more areas of expertise. This advanced level may include supervisory responsibilities. Work duties may be narrowly focused or diverse. Examples of focus may include areas such as CADD management, 3D specialist, GIS Specialist, Engineering Technician Designer, and other areas of specialization. Will be knowledgeable in methods, techniques, and practices of the appropriate specialty.

Essential Responsibility

  • Utilized as technical resource in project meetings and project design for area of specialty.
  • Researches best practices and maintains outside contact with other specialists.
    Acts as an internal and external point-of-contact for specialty area(s). May train others in related subject matter.
  • Prepares technical presentations, reports and analysis in area of specialty.
  • Fluent in the HNTB project management philosophy and may be responsible for project budgets, schedules and progress reporting at a task level.
  • Interacts regularly with clients at the staff level.
  • May perform technical reviews for other projects in area of specialty.
  • May be responsible for managing a project team in area of specialty and coordinating work with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities

- Review of Traffic Design Plans (signalization plans and signing and pavement marking plans).
- Develop and document FDOT District 1 Traffic Design preferences and policies.
- Coordinate with local maintaining agencies within FDOT District 1.
- Creates basemaps using survey information and CADD program.
- Assists design team in creating plans from concept through final construction drawings.
- Knowledge of plotting/printing functions.
- Maintain project libraries and CADD standards.
- Prepares detail and quantity calculations.

Basic Qualification

Associate of Science or Technical School
10 years related experience
In lieu of education, 12 years related experience

Preferred Qualification/Skills

- At least 10 years of Civil Engineering transportation CADD design experience.
- Microstation experience required.
- Experience in working with the FDOT’s Electronic Review Comments application is preferred.
- Traffic design experience working on District 1, Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) projects is preferred.  

General Work Conditions

Office Environment: Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently, and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use.
