The time is right to join HNTB Corporation!  HNTB is seeking an Office Technical Specialist I  in our Charlotte, NC office.

Job Summary

Performs basic contract administration functions for small to medium projects. Assists in performing field engineering inspection and contract administration functions in order to monitor individual contractor's compliance with specifications, plans and other contract provisions.

Essential Responsibility

  • Inspects and documents individual activities performed by the contractor.
  • Performs measurement of completed work to date.
  • Reads and comprehends contract documents.
  • Keeps inspectors daily report of assigned work activities.
  • Maintains overall project daily diary.
  • Prepares monthly construction estimates.
  • Assists in on-site material testing.
  • Maintains project data and documents, including drawings, specifications, test results and reports.
  • Coordinates testing and monitoring services.
  • Coordinates and schedules quality control inspections.
  • Prepares routine reports on construction progress.
  • Performs mathematical calculations for quantity payments.
  • Produces as-constructed sketches are required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities

- Ability to read and create scope of work and perform takeoffs for Independent Cost Estimators.
- Ability to perform comparative analysis of ICE vs. Contractor Proposals
- Maintain weekly project logs (ie Change orders, close-out items, official letters, etc)
- Maintain and produce weekly dashboards from Project Management Information System (PMIS)
- Review and maintain monthly payment applications with schedulers and Resident Engineers

Basic Qualification

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Architecture

General Work Conditions

Combination Office and Field Environment: Most work is performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use. Work may infrequently be performed at client’s job site, construction trailer, and in the field. Work may sometimes require working in inclement weather, working in a construction site, being exposed to heavy construction equipment and doing extensive walking. Adherence to applicable safety protocol is required.
