    The time is right to join HNTB Corporation!  HNTB is currently seeking a Project Manager II- Engineering in our Parsippany, NJ office.

    Job Summary

    Responsible for the leadership and management of team in support of the project’s profitable operation. Responsible for proactively managing the projects technical budget (direct labor and expenses, including technical sub-consultants), schedule, technical requirements, contractual obligations, project communications and HNTB’s 4 for 4 performance: delivery of quality work, on time, on budget and to the client’s satisfaction on every project. Responsible for gross revenue of $5M-$10M.

    Essential Responsibility

    • Actively manages project scope, schedule and budget. Serves as the primary client liaison to bring the schedule, budgets and scope of work to completion and to the client’s satisfaction.
    • Performs technical discipline tasks including research, reports, design, specification and plan preparation to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective execution of assigned projects.
    • Implements the firm’s project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project.
    • Develops project scope and fee quotation, and assists in the preparation of proposals and contracts.
    • Coordinates work efforts and reviews of work performed by project team. Supervises and mentors team to overall project objectives.
    • Oversees project staffing with departments, offices and divisions.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Additional Responsibilities

    - Ability to think independently, lead bridge design projects and task assignments and work as part of a larger multi-disciplinary team
    - Experience leading and delivering bridge design projects and task assignments, as well as leading and mentoring staff
    - Able to supervise, develop and evaluate performance of staff members (typically five to ten staff members)
    - Experience in managing multiple projects at one time
    - Ability to plan, direct, supervise, and control the execution of all business, technical, fiscal, and administrative functions of the assigned projects
    - Ability to develop project scopes of work and fee proposals, develop and execute workplans for assignees, as well as aid in the preparation of technical proposals for project pursuits
    - Ability to negotiate changes to a projects scope of work with the client and key stakeholders
    - Able to market and secure additional work with clients
    - Excellent written and oral communication skills and public presentation experience is a must
    - Technical writing skills is a must
    - 10+ years of relevant experience in the design of new bridges, and the rehabilitation of bridges
    - Experience in rail bridge design preferred
    - Experience with Accelerated Bridge Construction methods, techniques and details preferred
    - New Jersey and/or New York Professional Engineer Licenses (or capable of obtaining the other within 3 to 6 months)
    - Experience with the New Jersey Turnpike, New Jersey Department of Transportation and New Jersey Transit required
    - Relationships within the industry, and a network of owners and clients in the northeast region of the US preferred
    - Working knowledge of Primavera or MS Project preferred
    - Basic knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX preferred
    - Active participation in related professional associations is preferred

    Basic Qualification

    Bachelor's degree in Engineering
    12 years relevant experience
    4 years project management experience

    General Work Conditions

    Combination Office and Field Environment: Most work is performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use. Work may infrequently be performed at client’s job site, construction trailer, and in the field. Work may sometimes require working in inclement weather, working in a construction site, being exposed to heavy construction equipment and doing extensive walking. Adherence to applicable safety protocol is required.
