Overview

The time is right to join HNTB Corporation!  HNTB is currently seeking a Section Manager - Engineering in our Baton Rouge, Louisiana office.

Job Summary

Provides both technical and administrative supervision to the section so as to ensure that technical, administrative, direct labor, and schedule targets of the section are met in accordance with applicable professional standards, design control procedures, company procedures, and technical design guides. Section revenue normally does not exceed $1.5 million per year.

Essential Responsibility

  • Coordinates activities of engineering section.
  • Assigns priorities and staff to jobs.
  • Coordinates time and budget on jobs.
  • Maintains client contacts to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Ensures quality control are maintained on project(s).
  • Typically manages up to 15 employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

- Client contact
- Quality control
- Responsible to Lead and/or direct the pursuits of new work to support and grow the Bridge Department
- Provide mentoring to junior staff.

8-15 years of experience, bridge specific preferred.

 

Basic Qualification

Bachelor's degree in Engineering
11 years relevant experience
2 years supervisory experience

Preferred Qualification/Skills

Master's degree in Strucural Engineering
PE/AICP
Experience in bridge design, studies, and plan preparation.
Experience managing successful, profitable large bridge design, bridge inspection and/or bridge construction projects.

General Work Conditions

Combination Office and Field Environment: Most work is performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use. Work may infrequently be performed at client’s job site, construction trailer, and in the field. Work may sometimes require working in inclement weather, working in a construction site, being exposed to heavy construction equipment and doing extensive walking. Adherence to applicable safety protocol is required.
