The time is right to join HNTB Corporation! HNTB Corporation is currently seeking an Senior Utility Construction Manager in our Washington, D.C. office.

Job Summary

Responsible for coordination and monitoring of overall field construction administration activities and/or management engineering services on projects of a diverse nature in accordance with design specifications to assure that construction projects are completed in compliance with the drawings and specifications, within budget, and on schedule. In absence of Construction Project Manager, serves as the senior company representative at the construction site with responsibility for ensuring that construction proceeds in accordance with design and contractual documents.

Essential Responsibility

  • Assures implementation of plans and specifications.
  • Assures construction activities are in accordance with contractual documents and are completed within budget and schedule.
  • May monitor activities of staff.
  • Overall administration of project.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities

- Provides overall project monitoring of utility relocations for multi-modal roadway, transportation and other capital improvement projects, including: engineering design; and reviewing relocations with utility companies.
- Ensures construction plans, plats, and specifications conform to all applicable standards and requirements.
- Reviews and recommends approval of utility design and construction estimates and payment of invoices, and ensures the timely completion and approval of each utility relocation design and construction.
- Coordinates utility relocation designs with utility companies, regulatory/approval agencies to resolve project issues.
- Required to make daily site visits, and attend meetings.

Basic Qualification

Bachelor's degree in in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management
12 years relevant experience

Preferred Qualification/Skills

- Experience in design and construction of aerial and underground utility relocations for roadway, transportation and capital improvement projects as well as the review of utility relocation procedures for those projects.
- Experience with power, telephone, gas, water, petroleum and telecommunication utility relocations.
- Experience with DDOT and FHWA utility relocation manual.
- Experience in the use of computer applications and software, MSOffice, MS Project, AutoCAD Land Development Desktop, AutoCAD Civil3D and/or Microstation.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to drive a motor vehicle.
- Ability to perform field investigations on transportation design projects.

General Work Conditions

Combination Office and Field Environment: Most work is performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use. Work may infrequently be performed at client’s job site, construction trailer, and in the field. Work may sometimes require working in inclement weather, working in a construction site, being exposed to heavy construction equipment and doing extensive walking. Adherence to applicable safety protocol is required.
