Overview

The time is right to join HNTB Corporation!  HNTB is seeking an OCS (Overhead Catenary System) Inspector - Rail Systems in our Denver, CO office.

Job Summary

Responsible for providing daily inspection of multiple, routine activities within a given discipline/trade performed by contractor in order to monitor the project’s compliance with plans, specifications, and other contract provisions. Maintains daily logs of inspection work which is assigned and reviews discrepancies or changes with Field Engineer. Work is generally limited to smaller, standard, less complex projects.

Essential Responsibility

  • Monitors work of Contractor.
  • Reads and comprehends contract documents.
  • Keeps Inspector's Daily Report of assigned work activities.
  • Produces As-Constructed sketches as required.
  • Performs on-site material testing.
  • Performs measurements of completed work to date.
  • Performs standard mathematical calculations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualification

High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
1 year construction related experience
All required jurisdictional certificates and state requirements

Preferred Qualification/Skills

 
 
- Capable of reading/understanding and interpreting engineering design/construction documents
- Experience with reading/understanding and interpreting construction specifications.
- Railroad Field Experience – working around live track environment
- Construction experience including foundation installation and steel erection
- Knowledge of light rail and/or heavy rail system features
- Ability to prepare reports and documentation of field progress / issues
- Monitor and provide reports of Contractor progress in comparison with Construction Schedule
- Ability to review and understand construction criteria/tolerances and interpret construction progress applicability
- Ability to produce as built documentation
Preferred:
- OCS inspection experience
- Line work construction experience
- Ability to identify issues and provide possible solutions
- OCS installation experience
- Knowledge of light rail and/or heavy rail system operations
- Surveying experience

General Work Conditions

Combination Office and Field Environment: Most work is performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use. Work may infrequently be performed at client’s job site, construction trailer, and in the field. Work may sometimes require working in inclement weather, working in a construction site, being exposed to heavy construction equipment and doing extensive walking. Adherence to applicable safety protocol is required.
