Overview

 

 

The HNTB New York office is currently looking for an entry level Field Technical Specialist - Construction Engineer in our New York Field project office.  This position will be assigned to the Goethals project and will be based in either Queens or Brooklyn.

Job Summary

  • Assists experienced field engineers on various construction tasks
  • Maintains Inspectors Daily Report of assigned work activities
  • Performs mathematical calculations for quantity payments using either English or Metric units.
  • Performs basic shop drawing review
  • Reads and interprets Contractors CPM schedule
  • Coordinates testing and monitoring services
  • Coordinates and schedules quality control inspections
  • Maintains project data documents, including drawings, specifications, test results and reports.
  • Prepares routine reports on construction progress
  • Supports Quality Compliance and Document Control for Design and Construction
  • Performs and support diverse engineering and construction tasks
  • Performs limited design calculations
  • Develops quantity estimates

Essential Responsibility

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Construction Management or similar degree from an accredited University program
  • Engineering design coursework preferred
  • Internship or co-op experience preferred
  • Self-motivated individual with initiative
  • Able to take on a leadership role within a diverse group of contractors, sub-contractors, utility representatives, stakeholders and peers

Environment and Physical Requirements: Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to unpleasant and/or hazardous working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently throughout an eight-hour period, reach vertically for overhead use as well as horizontally. Preferred Qualification/Skills

GED or Highschool Diploma as well as up to 1 year experience with Signal
