Overview

The time is right to join HNTB Corporation!  HNTB is currently seeking a Sr. Contract Attorney to join our team in Kansas City, MO.

Job Summary

Participates as experienced contract resource in the preparation of medium-size complex projects and support for the preparation of all Mega-Project contracts and related documents for core and/or Design Build (DB) Mega-Projects. Engages in the production of change-orders for existing contracts. Supports the preparation of contract claims.

Essential Responsibility

  • Serves as contracting resource to pursuit and negotiation team, supporting the preparation of agreements including teaming agreements, Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), contracts and subcontracts for medium-sized complex projects.
  • Supports the preparation of all Mega-Project contracts and related documents for core and/or DB Mega-Projects.
  • Participates in front-end assessments of complex business pursuits, analysis of RFPs, proposal reviews and coordination, contract negotiation and contract preparation.
  • Generates contract documentation in partnership with pursuit team.
  • Briefs project team on contract terms and conditions.
  • Partners with design teams and change manager to negotiate and produce change orders for contracts.
  • Supports the preparation of contract claims.
  • Carries out other duties as necessary.

Basic Qualification

Doctoral degree in Law
8 years transaction or litigation experience
Board licensure in at least one state

Preferred Qualification/Skills

-
Experience in the design or construction field

- 5 years Architecture/Engineering contracts experience, including Design Build
- Highly motivated and creative leader with demonstrated history of success and delivering solutions to complex problems.
- Tenacity to overcome obstacles while at same time forging strong relationships with key stakeholders.

General Work Conditions

Office Environment: Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently, and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use.
