Overview

The time is right to join HNTB Corporation. We are seeking candidates for a Project Analyst I position in our Bellevue, Washington office.

Job Summary

Works closely with project managers to support HNTB’s 4 for 4 performance on projects: Consistent delivery of quality work, on time, on budget, and to the client’s satisfaction on every project. Performs project analysis and coordination, accounting, reporting, budgeting, scheduling, month-end processing, and cash duties on assigned project(s). May support multiple project managers, departments and offices. Entry level position, generally assigned to smaller projects or assists in supporting larger/complex projects.

Essential Responsibility

  • Generally, assigned to smaller projects or assists in supporting larger/complex projects.
  • Partners closely with Project Managers, Business Managers, office leaders, clients, and peers to achieve all 4 for 4 expectations, maximize earnings and cash and to meet client needs. Receive close guidance from Office Business Manager and/or Sr. Project Analyst.
  • Monitors, coordinates, and analyzes JPI exception reporting to ensure accurate reporting based on project performance and perform monthly and quarterly ER forecast for projects and office. Monitor and report on job budgets and costs, labor charges, expense detail, and work plans.
  • Conducts earnings review (and required analysis) on assigned projects to identify errors and trends. Responsible for making necessary corrections under direction of Project Manager, Office Leader or Business Manager to ensure accurate reporting by established deadlines.
  • Assists in preparing sub-consultant agreements, insurance and review of compensation (and payment) clauses, salary rates, and determining appropriate overhead rates.
  • Timely reporting on issues impacting cash management and project performance. Address issues to meet 4 for 4 performance that impact earnings and cash.
  • Ensures effective cash management by working with clients' established upfront processes on new contracts. Establish and maintain effective relationships with clients.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities

This position provides support to the assigned project managers in monitoring the financial performance of the project. This position requires understanding of contracts and contracts business terms especially the compensation provisions and coordinates administrative aspects of projects from beginning to end of project in such areas as:
 
- Preparation and Review of Prime, Sub-consultant, and Interoffice agreements
- Project financial analysis & accounting
- Coordination of Contract document reviews in accordance with HNTB standards
- HNTB’s Month-end processing,
- HNTB’s and Clients’ Project related reporting
- Cash management – Invoice reviews and collections
- Coordination and participation in monthly proactive project reviews
- On-going Sub-consultants contracting and management support
- Preparation of Projects correspondence and assistance with Project Proposal preparations.
- This position also works closely with the office leadership and business team and assists in implementing HNTB best business practices
 
Other Responsibilities include:
- Position may require co-location in a field office, client facility or travel between HNTB offices including outside of Washington.
- Significant interaction with clients, other HNTB offices and sub consultants to analyze, identify and resolve issues relating to any of the following areas: cash management (billings, collections and accelerating cash flow), contracting, project performance, earnings, etc.
- Is expected to perform any other project administration and financial duties as assigned.
- May act as a lead to train new project managers in the office on tools, processes and procedures.
- May be requested to assist in firm wide training of Project Management Tools and Project Administration which may require travel to other offices and in addition will consult with other offices on project management processes and best practices.
- May be requested to lead special assignments and initiatives on behalf of the Office/Division.

Basic Qualification

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related degree
In lieu of education, 4 years experience in project analysis or similar position

Preferred Qualification/Skills

Preferred Requirements:
 
- Project Management Certification
- Strong ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- AEC Transportation Industry preferred.

General Work Conditions

Office Environment: Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently, and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use.
