Overview

We are currently seeking a Sr. Project Designer to join our team. This position is available in Kansas City, MO or Dallas, TX. In this role, you will collaborate with our Chief Design Officer and Director of Design to develop design solutions for a variety of projects and coordinate the design through all phases of the project – conceptual design through project opening. Your role will include establishing and executing the overall design direction, developing architectural design concepts, leading client presentations, organizing internal design workshops, and preparing documents during all phases of the project to ensure that the design vision is executed in the final product.  

 

You will have responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating large scale complex projects and delegating design assignments to other key members of the project team.  You will be an integral participant in business development activities, interview strategies and presentation strategies.

Job Summary

  • Plan and develop architectural design for our most valued clients and complex projects.
  • Demonstrate judgment in determining the project goals of the client through direct client contact and team communication.
  • Develop creative design concepts and lead development of design documents during all phases of project development. Projects will vary in scale and include many, large scale projects of national public significance.
  • Collaborate with design team and oversee less experienced designers to implement and execute design intent.
  • Review work of other project designers for accuracy, completeness and design quality.
  • Collaborate with Project Manager(s) and Sr. Project Architect(s) to ensure project is on schedule, on budget, reflects the latest industry trends, and meets all project business objectives.
  • Engage the entire project team in design charrettes and workshops during the project, fostering a culture of design excellence.
  • Maintain regular communications with client representatives to verify design requirements, progress reviews and design delivery.
  • Coordinate quality of design product throughout the project process.
  • Prepare client presentations and present design concepts and drawings. 
  • Business Development - Supports the marketing and business development initiatives of the office on project pursuits and actively participate in strategy sessions, war rooms, and interviews.
  • Perform material research and participate in the coordination and preparation of project specifications.
  • Possess strong organization and problem solving skills and have the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.
  • Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, be proactive and make leadership decisions on its own initiative.
  • Exhibit strong attention to detail in the development of design solutions.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment, mentor and supervise other younger staff members.
  • Other responsibilities include: input in decisions with office management, recruiting and staff development, organization of design charrettes, design reviews, and maintains knowledge of design profession and industry trends.

Essential Responsibility

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture and 7+ years of experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture and 10+ years of experience preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years related Sports or Aviation Architecture design experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of sustainability, integrated design and LEED guidelines preferred.
  • Ability to use 2D/3D software, including Sketchup, PhotoShop, Illustrator, Bluebeam, and InDesign.. Basic understanding of 3D Studio Max, AutoCAD and Revit is desired.
  • Strong graphic and visualization skills to communicate design ideas, including a strong ability to sketch by hand in 2D/3D preferred.
  • State Licensure and LEED accreditation is preferred.
