Overview

The time is right to join HNTB!  HNTB is currently hiring an Senior Resident Engineer for our New York, NY office. 

 

The Senior Resident Engineer is responsible for overall field contract management, administration and coordination on mid to large size projects of a diverse and complex nature. Has full technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating construction engineering assignments involving unique or controversial problems which significant affect major corporate programs. Responsible for monitoring assigned staff to determine that the contractors activities are monitored and controlled in accordance with design specifications and contractual requirements. On-site liaison between Client, Company Personnel and Contractor I in resolution of project issues. Act as a specialist in the application of advanced concepts, principles, techniques and procedures for an assigned area of responsibility. Analyze complex construction/design problems requiring the development of new or improved techniques or procedures and consults with design engineering personnel. Represents projects at meetings and conferences.

Job Summary

  • Review and draft responses to Contractors correspondence as required.
  • Implement on site procedures to assist staff in performing their work.
  • Collect data to brief Client on project issues and provide possible resolutions.
  • Read and Interpret plans.
  • Monitor Contractor progress and compare with reviewed Progress Schedule.
  • Mentor and train staff Administer JPIs and Budget.

Essential Responsibility

 

  • Minimum Fifteen years of construction experience working around active railroads
  • Professional Eng or Regsitered Architect preferred.

Environment and Physical Requirements: Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to unpleasant and/or hazardous working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently throughout an eight-hour period, reach vertically for overhead use as well as horizontally.
